🏞️ Environmental

🔥 Campfires can set on fire

If someone stands on a lit Campfire, the fire will spread to them. Having «Frost Walker» enchantment on boots makes you exempt, though.

🌧️ Campfires don’t burn in rain

Campfires exposed to rain will randomly extinguish.

🧊 Melting ice in Nether

Regular Ice will instantly melt in ultra warm dimensions like Nether. Packed Ice will melt too, given enough time (regardless of default vanilla restrictions like the light level). Blue Ice, on the other hand, is capable of withstanding such high temperatures.

🐾 Dynamic trails

If you walk the same path over time, the blocks may change. A Grass Block / Podzol will turn into Dirt, then Coarse Dirt, then Gravel, and finally Cracked Stone Bricks. Sand / Red Sand will turn into Sandstone / Red Sandstone.

🌱 Grass spread

Grass Block (and other grass blocks) can spread onto Coarse Dirt, turning it into Dirt.

🍃 Non-solid Leaves

Entities can go through Leaves.

👟 Surroundings affect the movement speed

Movement speed is dynamic and constantly changing. Walking on Dirt Paths will be faster than walking on Dirt, and vegetation on the path will slow you down instead.

🧨 Explosions work in fluids

Fluids no longer prevent explosions.

🔧 Mechanics

🔄 Shared world destruction

Block breaking is now shared among players with cracks staying in place for some time. A cracked block can be repaired by banging (LMB) it with 🔨Hammer.

🌊 Water puddles hurt

Falling into a puddle (one block of Water) causes damage; you won’t be able to save yourself with a Water Bucket anymore.

🔔 Knock-knock and ding-dong

Doors and Trapdoors can be knocked on with LMB. If there is a Button next to them, LMB on it will act as a doorbell.

🐈 The cat won’t let you open the chest?

Opening a Chest will knock entities on it towards the lid. But be careful! If there is a wall behind the lid or a mob is on the Chest when the lid is closed, the entity will take one point of damage.

⚙️ Smart door opening

Doors, Trapdoors and Fence Gates open together if they are next to each other. This can be prevented by crouching, or in the case of redstone, having a signal below 8.

🚪 Tall doors

Placing an opened Trapdoor (either one or two) above the Doors will allow them both to be opened at the same time.

💧 Containers release items in liquids

Opening a container exposed to liquid will release all stored items. Be especially cautious with lava.

🍈 Exploding Melons and Pumpkins

If any Arrow or a Trident hits a Melon or a Pumpkin, the block will break into pieces.

💥 Exploding Coal Ore

Coal Ores (of any kind) are not keen of Fire, and will explode upon contact with it. This includes lit Torches (of any kind) and Campfires, as well as «Fire Aspect» enchantment.

Moreover, trying to mine the ore with a metal tool will lead to the same result, causing level 5 fiery explosion in both cases.

🚧 Jumping over Fences

Players can jump over Fences, but they still act as an obstacle for other entities.

🔥 Fire spread on touch

Trying to extinguish Fire with an empty hand will set you on fire.

🧯 Unlit Campfire

Campfires are no longer lit by default. Breaking them will drop the Campfire as an item, with «Silk Touch» allowing to keep the lit state.

💧 Wet Cauldrons

Entities inside Water Cauldrons are considered wet (MC-145311).

⬇️ Campfires are affected by gravity

Campfires will fall due to gravity. Upon landing, a lit Campfire will extinguish and spread fire to the block underneath and potentially to some of the blocks around.

👁️ Observers detect moving entities

Observers, if not facing a solid block, produce a signal when they detect moving entities move in front of them.

🎴 Individual Slab breaking

When breaking a double slab while sneaking (LShift), only the slab the player is looking at will drop.

🪡 Hurting Stonecutter

Stonecutter deals 2 damage per damage tick to entities standing on it.

🎶 Less restrictive Note Blocks

Note Block plays a note if any block next to it has a non-solid face, instead of only if the block above is air.

🎼 Reverse Note Block tuning

Tuning a Note Block while sneaking (LShift) will reduce its pitch rather than increase.

⚙️ Tweaks

🪚 Useful Stonecutter

Many crafts were removed from other work station blocks, instead being added to the Stonecutter. Things like doors, slabs, signs, buttons, etc. are now made through cutting and can be interchanged with a 1 to 1 ratio (yes, a wooden button can be made into a wooden door of the same type).

🔲 Crying Obsidian is still Obsidian

Crying Obsidian can be used as a block for the Nether portal frame.

🪧 Better sign editing

Sign editing screen is no longer opened automatically on place.

Signs keep their text when broken and render it in the inventory. Clicking RMB with a Sign in hand on another placed Sign will apply the stored text to it. The text can be erased in the crafting grid.

📦 Easier access to storage

Interacting (RMB, without crouching) with Item Frames, Paintings and Signs opens the inventory of the block behind them.

Some vanilla blocks also got inventories. Flower Pots have 5 slots for you to hide items in.

🎶 Improved Note Blocks

Note Blocks display the note and instrument when played.

🕸️ Flammable Cobweb

Cobweb can burn and catch the Fire.

🛤️ Better rail placement

Rails can be placed on more surfaces.

🔁 Improved replaceables

Replaceable blocks will be broken upon placing blocks on them, dropping any generated loot.

Pink Petals and Wildflowers are added to replaceable blocks.
